Armor your iPod

While Christmas shopping I came across an iPod case that was really slick. Two iPod cases were on my shopping list, so I took particular interest. After deciding to purchase these, I decided a third for me was absolutely necessary.

Let me preface this by saying this is my 4th iPod Video case. I started with the sticker case. You stick it on the front and back to protect it. That was ok, but I just didn’t really like it.

Second I purchased the film cover, so it looked stock, that was just cheesy looking, was coming loose at the edges. I let that one go and purchased a rubber case in a clearance bin at CompUSA for $6. When I got home I found out it only fit the 30GB Videos so I gave it to Jason at work and returned it to the Swiss Army sleeve I had been storing it in.

Then I came across this beauty, it’s the Belkin Clear Acrylic and Brushed Metal Case and I love it. This case completely protects the iPod, including the screen and touchwheel. I was a little apprehensive that the headphone cable hole might be too small, but it worked fine.

The case makes the iPod a bit bigger, but not as big as a Zune. The screen cover doesn’t affect brightness or clarity at all. It’s available in a few other colors, pink (shown) and blue. Belkin’s website lists them as available for pre-order, but I found them in stock at Fred Meyer in Idaho.

I found them on my Amazon associate deal for $19.99 if you want to order one, it supports this site! It’s important to note that this case comes with two different back plastic pieces so it fits the 60/80GB and the 30GB snugly.

I must be one of the few geeks without a DAP. I still use my Sony mp3 Discman (burn my podcasts to a CD-RW, and such). I’m looking at an Archos Jukebox, but until I move back to a big city where public transportation/walking is the norm, I won’t be getting any new audio presents under the tree :(

Enjoy your vacation!
