I wanted to drop in a performance update as I had reverted my machine back to Windows XP Professional. I am playing WoW in Windowed Mode at 1280×768 and I am already back up to around 40fps with everything enabled and in high detail.
It’s important to note that I am also using the latest catalyst drivers. I also would like to note a problem I noticed twice while installing, and more specifically updating, World of Warcraft on Windows Vista. On my laptop and my desktop both, it gave me an error saying it could not create the desktop shortcut and it failed the update. I searched the net but never found a solution better than uninstall and start over, a long process if you play you already know.
Suffice it to say I am back on XP Pro and quite happy with Dreamweaver not UAC nagging me, WoW is running much faster and Synergy lets my mouse go whenever I need it instead of when nothing has focus.
I am not slamming Vista, it’s just that the software I use hasn’t quite caught up with it yet. I will still be running it exclusively on my laptop.

Idemise 1-70 Alliance Leveling Guide » For the record, I am getting 120+ fps on WoW running Vista 64 bit.
