Another PS3 Game review for you, Full Auto 2: Battlelines. I picked this game up at Hastings last night to check out more of what the PS3 can do and this one had my jaw on the floor. Full 1080p gaming goodness!
The game itself is has a pretty tough learning curve, you have to drive with one analog stick, aim your machine guns with the other analog stick, and still manage gas and brake on the shoulder buttons and fire on the standard buttons. Talk about something to manage. It took me a little bit to get to where I could manage both separately. Once you do it’s time to make it hot.
The graphics on this game are stunning. Beyond the resolution of 1080p, this game takes it up a notch. The graphics almost look good enough to be raytraced. There aren’t many cars to choose from when you start out, a few newer models, a classic car and a pickup truck with a plow on the front, and the weapons are nearly as limited with just a pair of .30 caliber machine guns and a smoke generator. However, the tracks are very diverse to start with. There are quite a few different parts of town to get around.
The modes are Destroy and Conquer, Single-player campaign and five unique multiplayer game modes (Arena and race-based modes including Base Assault and Cat & Mouse with up to eight players)
I am not sure if this is a definite purchase game, time will tell how long my attention span lasts with it, but it is definitely worth a rent.
