Great podcasts you should be shot for not listening to…

My week begins with podcasts. I know my vaporware podcast hasn’t showed up yet…not for lack of want of course…but time is sometimes short of what we wish it was. There are a few podcast/vidcasts that I require. I thought I would take a minute to list a few, describe them, and link them so you can enjoy them also.

TWIT: This Week in Tech always begins my week. I go to www.twit.tv and play it right from the flash player on the site and listen in my headphones while I catch up on a weekend of emails. It’s usually around an hour long, consists of a variety of guests, and is always entertaining to listen to.Leo Laporte is the catalyst and almost always has John C. Dvorak on as the resident curmudgeon. The ancillary guests are drawn from great sites like Digg, Bit-Tech, etc. Kevin Rose, Patrick  Norton, Wil Harris, Alex Lindsay, Robert Scoble, Doc Searls, Merlin Mann and Andy Ihnatko are some of the more recent pundits who join in.

The conversation is always IT related but is witty, fast paced and has enough variety to get your week started with some good conversation topics and tech news.

Windows Weekly with Paul Thurrot: This is another on the TWIT network, I could actually list most of their podcasts as ones to listen to. The Tech Guy, MacBreak Weekly, net@nite are also really good ones. Windows Weekly is all about Microsoft and is joined by Leo Laporte but mostly headed by Paul who is quite Microsoft Savvy. The conversation can range from Windows, Office, Xbox and Zune…as well as many other Microsoft products and services.

Diggnation: This is the podcast that ends my week. It’s probably one of the most entertaining things I do on Sunday evening. It’s funny, it’s smart, it’s really fun. Kevin Rose and Alex Albrecht take on the latest top stories from Digg.com with their own unique commentary built in. It’s way to random to summarize so just take my word for it and download it from Revision3. I also suggest you check out the entire network, like TWIT, they have several great casts, namely, Geekdrome, InDigital and PixelPerfect. Not often enough you can add in Systm and thebroken.

DL.TV: Last but not least (and you are probably seeing some similar names here, is DL.tv. This is a great vidcast on a variety of subjects starring Patrick Norton and Robert Heron (both of which appear on TWIT often). This is probably one of the most well produced vidcasts of the bunch. For those trying to keep up with the latest, it’s a must watch.

If you are still hungry for more, check out iTunes. You will find thousands, some better than others, but that’s what ranking is for right? If you are interested in a topic, you can probably find someone discussing it on iTunes.

If you have any that you suggest I have not mentioned that you feel are appropriate for my readers, leave me a comment.
