1 Year and 3,281,498 hits later, Philoking is still going strong. I have really been a busy guy in this last year. I have churned out 280 articles and 6 podcasts, not including the dozens of posts I removed when I decided to be an all tech blog.
This online community has forged some really great friendships with other bloggers that I enjoy reading and collaborating with. Some of the great sites/guys I have been lucky to work with or get to know are:
- Chris Pirillo @ http://chris.pirillo.com/
- Arnan de Gans @ http://www.sothq.net/
- Wil Harris @ http://wilharris.blogspot.com/
- Dan Fernandez @ http://blogs.msdn.com/danielfe/
- Matt Mullenweg @ http://photomatt.net/
Ok, so that was some more than obvious name dropping in a few places, but it’s really cool who you get a chance to talk to in the wild world of IM and IRC. You can really get to know some very cool people and I have really enjoyed the chance to do so.
So where are we going in the next year? Wow, that’s hard to say. Hopefully better and better. Now that I am all moved in and settled I hope to get back on the podcast train with some great new guests and shows. Dawn and I are also working on a coffeeshop forum podcast for casters and bloggers, a local tech conference and of course growing the site’s reach. These days the REAL numbers (stripping out bots, big digg days, etc) equals out to about 450 unique users per day. That’s not bad, but it’s a start. I feel pretty good about where my site has been in the first year. With the Google Ads it has completely paid for itself.
If you want to get involved as a guest writer, a podcast guest or just want some good old fashioned link love, feel free to shoot me an email and I will always stay in touch.
See you on the net.
