The second new thing I will be doing, is admittedly stolen (by suggestion) and solely for my own benefit. Wil Harris has been doing this with great success for quite awhile. When I told him I had joined the gym and started eating more healthy, he suggested that I give it a shot.
The concept is pretty much self imposed peer pressure. If I put it out there that I am actively trying to lose some weight and get in shape, I have to admit to you also when I fall off the wagon or just get plain lazy.
So just over a week ago Dawngrrl and I joined the Idaho Athletic Club and started getting ourselves back in shape. When I moved to Idaho, I was a trim 175lbs. I had been going to the gym with great regularity and was playing basketball several times a week. When I moved to Idaho, or as I like to refer to it ‘Basketball wasteland’… Ok, that might be a bit harsh, but it’s definitely no North Carolina when it comes to finding a game of hoops. I really got complacent. After breaking my arm in a tragic, but quite humorous, mountain bike accident, things got even worse.
It was when I stepped on the scales and saw a staggering 222, that I realized I had to do something. Today I am standing here at a tick or so over 209. My goal is 185. I will be keeping everyone who cares, hi Dawn….hah, up to date so I can let you give me shit if I don’t do it. I’ll be checking in!
