Review: Belkin Cushtop Laptop Stand

DSC03450.JPG Dawn got very creative recently and made herself a laptop desk to carry her laptop around on when she is at home. The tray she made is nice, shiny, black and really really big. That works for her as she loves to play World of Warcraft downstairs and that’s just not practical without a mouse.

I had completely intended on building something similar this morning, so we made a pilgrimage to Home Depot to get the materials. The starting point was a nice piece of wood that was 16″x33″. As I was shot down on the first material, I decided that before I would search further, buy tools, and totally invest, that I would just go pick up one of the $30 store bought deals and call it a day.

I looked at quite a few this weekend, probably near to a dozen. I decided against the USB fan models as every review I have read says the don’t work, that left me with 4 or so choices, the best of which was the Belkin Cushtop, $31US at Staples. It’s pictured above. It’s hard to say too much about these except it saves your legs from the heat and makes working on your laptop in bed or on the couch much more comfortable.

If you are in the search, be sure to check these out. I am quite pleased with it’s quality and the gentle 1″ slope makes using my laptop much more comfortable. It also has a slot inside for a power brick (which my laptop doesn’t really have) or a mouse (which is apparently too big to fit inside the hole).
