19 Nov 2007Ok, so that is an entirely made up number. I have read so many article like this one lately. Talk about beating a dead horse. We get it, a lot of people don’t like Windows Vista. A lot of people have been caught up in the whirlwind of negative energy the blogosphere has created about Windows Vista. A lot of people are ignoring system requirements and installing Vista on toasters and refrigerators.
I will openly admit I dropped Windows Vista from my main machine. Reason being my Alesis Multimix 16 Firewire based audio interface doesn’t support it…..yet.
I will also say that I am no way surprised by this. Many flagship hardware/software solutions don’t embrace a new operating system for some time. I can remember holding back several OS and hardware updates for Pro Tools on both Mac & PC.
I have a podcast coming over the holiday with a friend of mine who is not a computer geek at all. What he is, is a computer user that recently switched to Vista on a pretty standard laptop, I’ll get his impressions and you might just be surprised.
Remember that the overwhelming majority of commentary comes from users who are above what I would consider normal users. I want to take a minute to breath and look at Vista from a casual user perspective. Remember that most of the money will come from that segment, and once it’s completely entrenched there, we will have no choice but to catch up.
So love it or leave it folks, Vista is here to stay. I for one am not sad about that, and when the time is right, I’ll hop on board too.
