Amiga: Getting Some Historical Perspective

December 10th, 2007 § 0 comments

If you haven’t read Arstechnica’s series of articles on the history of the Amiga computer, stop now and do so.

This series has to be one of the most fascinating computer history stories I have ever read. The genesis, result and ultimate failure of such a ground breaking computer leaves many lessons to be learned in an industry that in many ways is very much the same as it was then.

Sure the true advances in computing are being done in more reclusive and much more subtle branches of the graphics and sound arenas, but the vision and minds that are at work now are much the spirit of the fellows that created this computer.

Take an hour of your time and read these articles, I am sure you will be very glad you did. If anything it’s interesting to see how many of the players you still read about today were in the thick of it even then.
