I was pretty frustrated when I started playing with my new TomTom One XL and found out that TomTom doesn’t like Verizon. They state no support. With a Bluetooth enabled smartphone with high speed data services, and a TomTom One XL that supports them, I was near returning it to the store.
I am pleased to say that I avoided that with a little research and some patience.
After some fiddling, and some searching, I found settings that do work for Windows Mobile on Verizon with tethered Internet support.
1. Phone selection – other
2. Carrier selection – other
3. Access point – vzw3g
4. username – (phone number)@vzw3g.com
5. password – vzw
6. number to dial – #777
7. No scripts
The setup is pretty painless, first pair your devices, then when it asks you to set up your wireless connection, wait forever while it tries, then when it fails, select the US, select other for the Phone Model and Carrier, then use the connection settings above.
I tested it with the weather and software downloading features and it worked like a charm.

Good info, but I have another problem. When I try and pair my tomtom one xls with my motoq, I get the following error: “An error occurred while checking features. Do you want to try again?”. Did you experience this? my service is with sprint.
Thanks

Great that code works with the smart phone, but what about the V3M phone for Verizon? Where do you find the access code for it.

Thanks for the post…however…I have the same TOmTomOne XL and Verizon Motorola Q9M. I followed your directions and it will not connect. Did you use a tether cable, or are you using the Bluetooth connection? If tethered, what cable did you purchase?
Thanks for your help

I purchased a TomTom One last year, upgraded to version 7.162. Tried syncing with my Verizon Moto Q and no luck. Same errors as in previous posts.
Contacted TomTom, they reported that the Q is untested because “they don’t have one yet”. How long has Q’s been out now? Very sad.
Any suggestions?

Thanks – worked great.
For everyone commenting… be aware that with Verizon you must pay for and have them activate “tethering” on your phone. For my corporate blackberry it is $15/mo. If not the connection will not go through.

Great info! Paired my TomTom up with a Moto v325 and tested weather and traffic and seems to work just fine. Thanks again!

I just bought the Tomtom One XLS to use the hands free calling feature with my HTC touch and they will not connect. I brought both devices to Sprint (my carrier) and they could not get them to work either. anyone have any advice on how to fix this problem?

In order to hook up my Moto Q to my tomtom I have to have some stupid data package with Verizon for a grand total of $59.99… completely and utterly insane.

Chocolate VX8500 Black. Worked like a champ up to the point I expected it would. It connected properly but would not transfer data because I haven’t paid for data service. (IF YOU HAVEN’T PAID FOR DATA SERVICE, YOUR TOMTOM WILL SAY IT FAILED EVEN IF IT WORKS! Almost all phones will connect and I suspect most of you saying yours won’t just weren’t looking at your phone. You’ll see some bit about transferring and receiving data for a second or two; that’s it. That means the connection was successful but Verizon, being the greedy effers they are, won’t let you transfer data unless you pay them. Dial *611, talk to the nice foreign person and agree that you’ll never be able to cancel data service without a hell of a hassle and then your tomtom will work.)

BlackBerry Curve 8330 – WORKS LIKE A CHARM, as long as you have tethering service enabled with Verizon!

Has anyone been able to get the Storm to connect via Bluetooth and Tomtom?

I can get my 730 and my storm to connect for hands free, which is great considering the law in my state about talking and driving, but I can’t get a data connection for advanced services. Are you looking just for phone calls? If so, on BlackBerry go to-
Options: Bluetooth: Add Device: Listen
then, on TomTom-
Mobile Phone: Manage Phones: Find Phone: Yes
Follow prompts and at one point enter “0000″ on BlackBerry. It takes longer than you would expect, and may fail on the first try, but it will work eventually.

I have data service (Verizon BlackBerry) and it still won’t transfer. This isn’t a Verizon problem, it’s a TomTom problem.
