Artist's Hands - The Accordion When I first picked up a digital SLR camera, I was lucky enough to have two highly skilled individuals to guide me in understanding the art of photography. One of those individuals was John Setzler from Hickory, North Carolina.

I probably asked John more questions than he had time or desire to answer, but he was very gracious and I will always appreciate his help.

Recently John launched a website that can give some of that personal guidance and then some to all of you budding digital photography hobbyists. Keep in mind, this is for photography, not snapshooters.

If you are interested in photography as a form of art, there are several places I will recommend you to go to at the end of this article, but the first on my list will be PixChat.net.

John Setzler has built a great community of fantastic photographers and I would expect no less than to find many of them on this forum site adding to the knowledge that John already lends to it. Some of the categories for your interests are:

  • Photographic Technique
  • Post Processing
  • Architectural
  • Candid
  • Digital Art
  • Domestic Pets
  • Macro
  • Nature and Wildlife
  • Photojournalism
  • Scenic and Landscape
  • Sports
  • Still Life
  • Street Photography
  • Studio Portraits
  • Wedding

In addition to those he has built categories to discuss the technical aspects of Canon, Fuji, Nikon, Olympus, Pentax and Sony cameras as well as accessories, videography and software.

John rounds it out with a Trading Post to look for great deals on used gear. I would expect this site to be filling with good information and suggest you get in and add your two cents.
