Philoking.com’s Blogging Goals for 2008

In: Random

1 Jan 2008

So it’s January 1st, 2008. Tomorrow I begin orientation at Microsoft and I am nearly four days a resident of Redmond Washington. That’s a lot of new things to begin the new year with already. With the new job and home location in the mix, I thought it would be a good time to set some goals for my website in 2008.

Writing
I try to average a post per day. Sometimes it’s two in one day and none for a day, but I shoot for that. I will try and keep a similar pace, but I want to try and write one well written, well researched article per week. Of course the rest will maintain the same quality, but I want to add in one a week that gives a strong insight to a topic that is of interest to my readership.

I also want to incorporate Twitter or Pownce into my blog to give more micro blogging updates.

The last thing from a sort of writing perspective is WordPress Link Digest. WPLinkDigest is a plugin that Arnan DeGans from and I are writing to allow WordPress users to bookmark sites from Firefox and have them display on the sidebar. It will also allow you to add a description and generate a daily or weekly digest of your links you have added. This plugin is in development and will hopefully have a beta up in a week or two depending on how Microsoft taxes me the first few weeks.

Readership
I am pretty happy with my reader numbers so far. My Adsense revenue is growing steadily and my traffic is also on an incline.

I would like to get my readers up from 1,000 unique’s per day to 3,000 unique’s a day. I also want to get to 300 regular subscribers from a regular 50-60.

If you have suggestions or tips that you would like to share, please comment. I do this site for fun, but I want it to be the best it can be.

Happy New Year!

I am glad to hear that everything is going well for you in Seattle. I am glad to hear that you plan on increasing your content over the coming year. I hope things continue to go well for you in your new home and new job.
