iTunes Movie Rentals, What’s a new release?
I was browsing the iTunes movie store so I could rent a flick to review for you fine folks. We all have seen the pricing scheme:
- $2.99 for a regular movie
- $3.99 for a new release
- $5.99 for an HD movie
The only problem is, what is a new release? They have already stated that they will be available for rent 30 days after it’s DVD release. So that’s already a month off of "new" release.
The other thing is, it’s taste. Take a look at these flicks, their actual DVD release date, and the status. Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End, released December 4, 2007. Ok, that’s only a month and a half old, but still not a new release.
Get this one. The 300, released July 31, 2007. That movie nearly 6 months old! Yet it’s still classified as a new release. Give me a break. To add insult to injury, I have to watch it boxed! It’s formatted full screen, not wide screen!
Watch the pricing, more to come on quality and time to download tomorrow. I am downloading the 300, clocking in at 1.37GB. It will be interesting to see how it looks on the laptop screen at that size.
