I have not been shy about how much I like Windows Live Writer. My only problem with the software is that I have to run a virtual PC with Windows on it to use it because it’s not available for Mac. Since I usually use my Macbook Pro for my recreational computing, which includes blogging, I decided to make a concerted search for software I can use on my Mac for writing and working with blogs.
I downloaded the demo for Ecto for OS X and have since decided to register it for just $17.95 more than what Windows Live Writer costs, aka FREE.
So far it’s at least the minimum I need to do what I need to do. I have the ability to work with photos, flickr specifically, link Amazon ads, word count, categories, text formatting, forward posting…the usual suspects.
It’s not a bad program so far, the interface is by no means as polished as Live Writer in my opinion but it’s probably going to accomplish what I really need it to.
I’ll add more later, but it’s going to take a bit of using it for a full review.
