October 2008 Geek Bag Update

IMG_6865I do this post every so often. I carry a ton of gadgetry with me day to day and it’s fun to explode the bag and see what’s in it as it changes pretty regularly. If you go back through my blog posts you will find several iterations of the bag and what I carry and it’s always something different.

Recently I took a bus trip to Seattle and found myself missing a few things I wanted. I had been neglecting my geek bag! I decided to get it back in order, how it should be, and update this post to document what I carry and in some cases why.

The geek bag is the basic tool kit of any mobile geek. If you find yourself needing to geek on the go, and you never know when that need will arise, your geek bag is your  Bat Belt so to speak, there is no such thing as too much, you can always lift weights if it’s too heavy for you, you pansy :)

So what do I carry? So the photo below is the entire load, exploded, after the photo is a complete list of what you see.

I think that’s it. Didn’t look like all that would fit in that little bag would it? It’s actually not quite as heavy as you might think. The scale tips in at 20.4 lbs. Now that is also the main bag, when I travel I am usually also carrying my camera bag that has a full Digital SLR camera outfit. But I’ll go over that bag some other time. That’s not in the geek bag.

What’s in your geek bag?
