11 Oct 2009It’s T-Minus 5 days till I am in Las Vegas for the Microsoft SharePoint Conference. As I am not a huge gambler or partier, I would expect a good bit of blog posts to appear the week after next. That being said, no geek travels without gadgets, and when you are traveling for a whole week, it’s time to bring out the big guns.

So this is my full pack out. Believe it or not all of this stuff fits in that single backpack on the top left. It’s quite a load of gear, it covers me for computing, reading, music, gaming and even keeping my breath smelling good!
The key points that I can’t travel without are my USB Cellular Modem, Canon G9 Digital Camera, Noise Cancelling Headphones, 120GB Zune and of course my iPhone.
Obviously there is a lot more gear here than what I just listed, but I am the Boy Scout Always Be Prepared type, so I carry all the things I can see myself needing when I am out and about.
In Las Vegas I’ll be adding a couple other things not pictured here. I’ll bring my big camera, a Canon 40D with all the associated lenses, flash and probably toss my tripod in my check bag. I’ll also bring my new favorite geek gadget, the Amazon Kindle pictured above.
The new gadgets I expect to use and try to write about while I am there are the Zune HD, the previously mentioned Kindle and Kodak Zi8 video camera.

That sure is geeky man, but it’s real cool imho. Packing so much awesome stuff on a trip? It’ s like bringing your home with you! Personally as long as I have my laptop I feel at home.

Tonight begins my geek packing for the conference…but since I’m going to BlogWorld the weekend prior, it’s an even bigger bag. I think I will take your lead and blog a “geek packing” post as well.
I was really wavering on bringing my 40D and tripod; there’s a BlogWorld photowalk on Saturday night that I thought would be interesting, but now I can’t make it. I’m hoping someone puts together something similar for SPC just to make it worth my while to haul all that gear around…have you heard of anything like that in the works? And if not…I think we should have one on Sunday evening

Very cool… Now I don’t feel so bad about all the gear I’m bringing! I can’t go anywhere without my Treo, iPod and laptop. After that the rest is gravy.
See you there!
