My name is Jason Burns and I am a full time software developer and part time blogger.

About Me
I started blogging in 2003. I have always loved writing, but other than a short stint as a local newspaper owner, I had never considered trying to gather a large audience other than friends and family. As my blog grew from a pet project to a website with considerable readership, blogging became a passion of mine. The medium is so interactive and communicating with readers from all over the world is simply fascinating.

I have made friends all over the world and continue to do so. Eventually it would be nice to generate a substantial income from my blog, but until that day comes I will continue to write and communicate for the reasons that brought me here.

Professionally, I work for Microsoft in the Redmond Washington area. I am a Program Manager on the SharePoint Team, specifically with the PerformancePoint Services area of the product. Business Intelligence is the name of the game and we do it well. This blog is my personal opinion and does not reflect the views and opinions of Microsoft as a company.

The name comes from the Philosopher King, Plato’s leader of his fictional utopia. What does that have to do with Technology? Nothing actually, but when Yahoo’s Small Business services hijacked my digitaljason.com domain, I was in a hurry to pick another and it was unique and it stuck.

This blog, podcast and now videocast are all about technology, software, consumer electronics and the like. It’s starting to dive more and more into web strategies as well.  I hope you enjoy the content and continue to interact as I grow.

Quick Facts

Hobbies: I play guitar, write and record music (you can listen @ JasonBurnsMusic.com), I am an avid photographer ( follow my flickr! ), a budding videographer although my wife is a thousand times better, I enjoy riding bikes, traveling, playing basketball and golf as well as movies and reading.

What I do: I am a program manager at Microsoft for a Business Intelligence product called PerformancePoint Server. I specialize in the Monitoring and Analytics side of the business. I help develop new features for the product and it’s a fascinating job.

My Family: I of course have my family in North Carolina and Mississippi, but I mean my local family which would be my wonderful wife Dawn Fink and my son Andy Fink. Yea, we have different names because we haven’t settled the adoption pieces yet, but it’s in the works. Dawn is also a talented photographer and videographer as well as an avid gamer and wine afficianado. Andy is into Pokemon and, well…Pokemon.
