The Philocast
Mission Statement
The Philocast is a technology podcast and video cast dedicated to living life with the latest tech gear, gadgets and software. It’s easy to find a pro Windows, pro Mac or pro Linux podcast or website, but my mission is to take the everyday tasks we do such as productivity (Word Processing, Spreadsheets, Presentations, Desktop Databases), Internet Applications (email, instant messaging, web browsing, rss aggregators, podcast clients, bit torrent clients), development tools (web design, applications, database, game), graphics & design (internet, print, 3d, game) and of course many, many more types of applications, and give our listeners and viewers options, as well as reviews of both free and paid applications that fit those needs.
The key is that the Philocast keeps no bias towards any operating system or an application’s open or non-open source roots.
This focus will also extend into video games where the Philocast will discuss the three big gaming consoles as well. The Philocast moderator, Jason Burns, actively uses all three operating systems, including several distributions of Linux, as well as actively games on all three consoles. Guests will most likely be more focused to a specific platform but the discussion will remain fair to all.
Making the most of your computer or computers is easier when you have all of the doors unlocked and use what works best. If you are interested in having a product reviewed on the Philocast, be sure to read the Review Guidelines.
